Activities to convey the excellence of picture books and children’s books to children and their parents.
CAREER BRAIN representative, Kay McKalpain, is working as a navigator for “Recommended Children’s Book of the Month” on Sakura Radio, a Japanese-language Internet radio station in the U.S., to convey the wonder of picture books and the messages from stories to children. Started in August 2020, the program has introduced one picture book per month, and as of December 2023, she has introduced about 40 picture books to children. She selects picture books based on her own research, reads them to her own children, and introduces them in her programs. She has gained popularity for her easy-to-understand explanations of the appeal of picture books and the love and value nurtured by picture books, based on her own unique views.
Focusing on stimulating children’s senses and activating their brains by reading to them with a live voice, rather than a voice from a game or device, she is currently volunteering to read picture books to children in both English and Japanese, mainly in Orange County, California. She is currently developing a volunteer program to read picture books to children in both Japanese and English, mainly in Orange County, California.
She has been holding storytelling events at elementary schools in collaboration with Stephanie Yanez, a JPOP artist who has also published picture books.
Collaboration with Japanese picture book publishers and Japanese bookstores in the U.S.
In order to promote Japanese-language picture books overseas, the company is collaborating with publishers to select recommended picture books, introduce them on radio programs, and place them in the book selection section of Japanese bookstores in Los Angeles.
In November 2023, “Recommended Children’s Books and Picture Books” selected by Kay McKalpain will be introduced in the book selection corner at Kinokuniya bookstore in Los Angeles. The company will create a solid track record of orders for the introduced picture books and subsequent additional orders.
Preparing to distribute contents for young people by opening its own media. In 2024, CAREER BRAIN plans to launch its own media to distribute content aimed at increasing the motivation of young people.
Kay McKalpain, Managing Director of CAREER BRAIN
The world is now moving like a whirlpool or a tornado: technological evolution, penetration of AI, wars, post-pandemic society, economic instability, climate and tectonic changes, etc. We, as adults, cannot resist. We, as adults, are bewildered, angry, confused, and exhausted by the current situation that we cannot resist.
How do the children of the world look at adults and the future? Are they really able to see the future that they are responsible for? I myself wonder daily what I should do and what I can do for the world at this juncture. And I hope to provide a source of strength for children to dream and for young people to move forward toward their dreams.
Therefore, beyond human resource development and counseling, our company is committed to building a foundation for the children and youth who will lead the world in the future. We will boldly create and disseminate the products, services, and content necessary to achieve this goal. We also aim to create a platform where they can think, decide, and act on their own.
We are developing or planning to develop the above service content with the goal of enabling children and youth to think, decide, and act on their own. We are looking forward to hearing from those who support and collaborate with us, and those who would like to hear more about our “support for children and youth”. We look forward to hearing from you through the “Contact Us” link on this website.
